This year’s Cleanup was a great success!

We had 13 enthusiastic volunteers participate this year who helped remove over 325 lbs of garbage from the stretch of roadside and shoreline from Sandy Bay to South Oliphant. The more common items found were plastic water bottles and beverage cans, but we also found some more unusual items like a pickle jar, a high top sneaker and a saw blade.

We did notice that this year the shoreline appeared to be a little cleaner then previous years, so we’d like to the think that the community and it’s visitors are becoming more conscious and aware of the need to reduce and properly dispose of any waste they produce… which is great!
Friends helping Friends

We had plastic buckets graciously donated from the Wiarton Home Hardware to minimize the use of single use plastic bags this year which we will continue to use each year. We also had the assistance of the Town of South Bruce Peninsula, co-ordinated by Gord Glover, to collect and dispose of what we found as well as provide us with the necessary supplies.
Looking forward to finding less garbage in our shoreline cleanup next year!
